Decorative Cushions

Decorative cushions are the ones you buy for pattern rather than padding: block prints, geometric embroidery, tassels and tufting. They are the accent in a grouping, not the base, so one or two per sofa usually does more than five.

The trick with pattern is to repeat one colour from the cushion somewhere else in the room, in a throw, a rug edge or a piece of wall art. That single repeat is what makes a bold cushion look deliberate instead of leftover. Handmade dye lots vary slightly, so order a set together if you want them matching.
