Sold outA table runner is the quickest way to make a table look set rather than simply cleared. Handwoven in cotton, jute and linen blends, with fringed or hemmed ends, in the neutral tones that work whether the meal is a Tuesday roast or Christmas lunch.
Length is the thing to check. A runner should overhang each end by roughly twenty to thirty centimetres, so measure your table and add half a metre. If your table seats six, a two metre runner is usually right. Cold gentle wash and a warm iron on the reverse keeps linen blends looking crisp.
Set with placemats and napkins, centre it with tabletop decor, and light it with candle holders.
