Floor coverings for the spots a full rug does not suit: beside a bed, inside a doorway, in front of the sink. Handwoven mats and small rugs in jute, cotton and recycled fibre, tough enough for the traffic those places get.
Natural fibre mats shed a little in the first few weeks, which settles with regular vacuuming. In a wet area, choose cotton that can be machine washed rather than jute, which holds moisture and can mildew. A non-slip underlay is worth adding on tiles or polished boards.
