Coasters

Coasters are the cheapest insurance a timber table can have, and the easiest small gift to get right. Ours come in marble, mango wood, ceramic and woven fibre, sold singly and in sets of four or six.

Marble looks the best and is the least forgiving, since it is porous and will stain from red wine or coffee if a spill sits overnight. Sealed timber and glazed ceramic are the low-maintenance picks for a household with kids. Check the diameter against your glasses, as a seven centimetre coaster will not catch a wide tumbler base.
